Articulations : On The Utilisation and Meanings of Psychedelics
‘Articulations’ presents an understanding and evaluation of many different plants and compounds, including for example, the art of combining intramuscular DMT and Ketamine. This book is a compendium of findings, understandings, even internal and cultural issues that individuals may face. ‘Articulations’ was designed to give the reader a good ontological footing in this territory, which can be undeniably strange, fraught with difficulty and yet, also incredibly beautiful, fulfilling and healing.
A guidebook for the explorer
Full of useful information and some solid trip reports, ‘Articulations’ is something of a guidebook, designed to bring any reader, beginner or seasoned explorer, understandings which are going to be helpful for them in order to delve deeper and more consciously into the extraordinary, mysterious and powerful states that psychedelics can catalyse.
“In Articulations, changa pioneer and hyperspace nomad Julian Palmer launches forays across the frontiers of psychedelic consciousness, offers genuine insights born from a host of psychonautical experiments, and expresses his personal commitment to better living through alchemy.”
“This book ranges from in-depth discussions on various micro-endemic Acacia tress and the percentages of DMT within them, to beautiful insights on the nature of the psychedelic experience and what it shows us about simply being human . Julian’s ‘articulations’ on psychedelics feels like it comes from a place of wildly far-out exploration and successfully meaningful integration, a rare combination. I found a deep sense of being able to relate with his insights and his (baseline) mental landscape. Somehow this man has been able to take some of the most potent doses of psychedelics I can imagine and recapitulates them into accessible wisdom about everyday life. Great Read.”
“Great book and a must have for the entheogenic researcher and explorer. If Julian is ever in your area don’t miss his lectures or ceremonies. Julian not only talks the talk he walks the walk.”
“You would expect a treatise on psychedelics to blow your mind, wouldn’t you? Julian, uninfluenced by deep gnostic learnings, encumbering religious thought and debilitating paranoia is the equivalent of yesteryears explorer/adventurer, except the territory he dares trespass is beyond this world, it’s freaky and uncanny beauty hidden far within. He strikes the paper with a refreshing abandon, keen to tell us of the marvels and mystery that are forbidden us, wording the unwordable he attacks the taboo, claiming the right to know the unknowable he attempts to set us free from our self-sustaining realities. He leaves one thing undone and that is for us to complete, but he makes it perfectly clear, it’s going to take guts.”
– Floyd Davies, Author of “Conspirator” and “Illumined Adventures”.
“In Articulations Palmer provides an insider’s view of many entheogens, sharing his and others’ experiences and his resultant concepts regarding the nature of these experiences. This phenomenological approach to the experiences provides a basis for a more valid understanding of these substances than that provided by traditional science. Palmer proposes that we understand these experiences on their own terms and as a part of the greater expanses of reality and consciousness, not as hallucinations. While Palmer notes that some spirit entities he has encountered claim to be him, he does not reduce the psychedelic experience to the personal unconsciousness, repeatedly discussing the experience of other dimensions of existence that they reveal. Psychedelics reveal a deeper order of intelligence than that we ordinarily access, and experienced psychonauts cannot reduce their experiences to projection of human consciousness.
Palmer’s repeated experiences and guidance for many others’ trips provides perspectives and an orientation to novice psychonauts, enhancing their abilities to use these agents as tools for personal growth and enhanced consciousness. Palmer relates many practical techniques to help the novice achieve the best possible experience, but also cautions that these substances are not for everybody and anytime. While Palmer’s book is wide-ranging in its considerations of other’s perspectives on the nature of consciousness, it is his personal experience that makes this book special. Articulations is well written and informative, and recommended for psychonauts and wannabes.”
